Help Haiti

Haiti is the most impoverished country in the Westerm hemisphere. That said, they just experienced a 7.0 earthquake with absolute destruction and havoc all over Port-au-Prince. Many people are left homeless, without supplies or have died. Please find a way to help. One way is through Wycleaf Jean's Yele organization. He has opened up a way for anyone to text the word "yele" to the number 501501 and $5 will automatically be billed to your cell phone bill. Wycleaf Jean takes this disaster especially seriously because he has family and friends in Haiti, as he is Haitian. He started Yele to provide scholarships to disadvantaged in Haiti. He is flying down now via the Dominican Republic. ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO HAITI.

List of Others Taking Donations: Red Cross, UNICEF, OPERATION USA, What if? Foundation, AmeriCares, Doctors Without Borders (Whose offices there were completely destroyed), Haiti Arise, Haiti Emergency Relief Fund, Mercy Corps, Partners in Health. Also our agency FEC, whom we adopted through with Taiwan, has orphanages they work with in Haiti... they haven't had contact with their orphanages but we await word.

Also please contact your local church and see what humanitarian aid they have available for Haiti. Time is very important to the survivors. Help isn't coming soon enough for those trapped under the rubble. Please pray for the people of Haiti.

UPDATE FROM MY AGENCY: "We can't reach any of our orphanage workers and have no idea if our kids are okay. But we are taking money donations. People can go to www.paypal.com and click "send Money". This will take them to a page that they can enter our email address: donations@foreverychild.org. All donations are tax deductible and every penny will go to purchasing and sending down the supplies our orphanges need.

I can also receive donations of water sanitation supplies, personal care items, medicines, and first aid supplies. We hope to have a group of volunteers ready to head down as soon as the airport is up and running and flights are getting in. We'll keep families posted. But if you can help us spread the word to other families so we have less emailing and phone calls, that would be great!"

If you want to donate supplies, I'll email you the address.... (never usually put my mail but this is crucial... s.o.f.a.l.v @ h.o.t.m.a.i.l .com please erase the appropriate periods except the one before .com.

What a sad, sad situation. Thanks for rallying around Haiti in one of its worst hours.

I also want to mention worldvision.org

I work for them now and they are the largest NGO in the world and have 400 staff memebers that were already working in the country and a plane full of tents, blankets and cooking kits just arrived in country.

We have been continually praying.

Thanks for posting about this. It sounds like their only hope right now is from the international community, so that makes it even that much more important that we care to do something about it!

World Concern is also accepting donations, but I'm sure there are many more.

Be blessed,
Courtney
